Watchdog group says CTA inflated bus mileage reports for federal aid

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
A watchdog group based in Washington claims the CTA has been overstating mileage on its buses for years in order to collect federal aid.
The group Cause of Action claims the CTA has been inflating the number of miles it drives since 1982, and said the amount of money the transit authority has improperly obtained from the program could be as high as $150 million.
The group claims the CTA racked up many of the illegal miles by including out of service rides to and from bus barns and for maintenance.
