CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Four teen girls have been charged with the armed robbery of two University of Chicago students this week.
The judge set bail Wednesday at $100,000 for three young teenage girls, all being charged as adults. A fourth suspect, a 14-year-old girl, is facing juvenile charges after pistol-whipping a 28-year-old female student who was walking with a 22-year-old man. The gun went off during the scuffle, though no one was shot.
Michelle Jones, 17, of the 12200 block of S. Elizabeth St., Nataya Collins, 16, of the 1200 block of West 74th Place, and Kenyadrea Simpson, 15, of the 500 block of West 125th Place were each charged with felony armed robbery robbery, according to Chicago police.
They are scheduled to appear in court on November 6th.
On Monday at 12:15 a.m., the two students were walking down the street on the 5600 block of S. Blackstone Ave. when the 14-year-old confronted them and demanded them to hand over their bags. The 22-year-old man handed over his bag with his laptop inside, but when the female student refused to give hers up, the 14-year-old hit her multiple times in the head with the gun.
No one was shot, but the woman suffered multiple concussions and was taken to the Unviersity of Chicago Hospital. She received two staples to her head and is in stable condition, the police report says.
