Deering, Chicago Lawn residents warned of robberies: Alert

Police have issued alerts to let residents of two South Side neighborhoods know of some recent robberies in their communities.
In the Deering District, robbers struck twice about a week apart in the same block. In the reported incidents, the offenders -- described as two male white Hispanics between 20 and 30 years old, 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-6, approached the victims, displayed a handgun and demanded property, the alert said.
These robberies both occurred in the 3300 block of South Hamilton Avenue, the alert said. One happened at approximately 9:40 p.m. on October 3, and the other took place at approximately 8:35 p.m. on October 8.
To the southwest of those robberies, in the Chicago Lawn District, residents were being alerted of three recent robberies. In the reported incidents, the offenders -- who are generally described as two black males, between 17 and 24 years old, 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-10, approached victims and one displayed a handgun. They then took the victims' property.
These robberies occurred:
At approximately 8:40 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Cicero Avenue on October 9;
At approximately 10:25 a.m. in the 4300 block of West 76th Street on October 10;
At approximately 7 p.m. in the 4100 block of West 79th Place on October 11.
