WAUKEGAN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A security guard at a north suburban high school was charged with sexual assault after confessing to having a sexual relationship with a teenage girl, according to police.
Timothy Kinsey, 44, of the 1600 block of 11th Street in Waukegan, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault and five counts of domestic battery, according to a statement from Waukegan police.
He was originally arrested on a warrant charging domestic battery, but during the investigation, police learned he was involved in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, according to police.
He then gave a "voluntary statement admitting to domestic violence and the sexual relationship with the minor," the statement from Chief Daniel Greathouse said.
Kinsey has worked as a safety officer at Waukegan High School's Brookside Campus for two years, police said.
He is being held at the Lake County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
