AURORA, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A west suburban middle school was evacuated after a bomb threat at 3:04 p.m. Thursday, and a 12-year-old student was later arrested for the hoax, the Beacon-News is reporting.
According to Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli, officers were dispatched to Jefferson Middle School at 1151 Plum Street after a student claimed he was in possession of a bomb.
The school was evacuated but officers later discovered the report was a hoax.
Officers took a 12-year-old male student into custody, police said. As a precaution, the student's locker was searched and nothing was found, and a K9 unit searched the entire building.
All students were safe, according to a statement from the school district.
