CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
One more thing, about Pizza Hut's presidential debate offer.
You may have heard about this on Tuesday. Pizza Hut is offering a lifetime supply of free pizza--one large pie a week for 30 years--or a $15,600 check, to anyone who asks the question "sausage or pepperoni?" to President Obama or Mitt Romney during their debate next Tuesday.
The company is getting a lot of free publicity for this, but this strikes me as not only stupid, but not the kind of publicity you'd want for your company.
With all the daily nonsense, mudslinging, and negative ads in the campaigns taking up more time that the important issues of the day, do we really need something else to cheapen our political process?
Does Pizza Hut really want to be associated with someone who might act like Baba Booey and waste presidential debate time by yelling out an idiotic question for a prize?
Pizza Hut says there's room for both serious and lighthearted questions in the debate and this is a way to ask an everyday question people can relate to.
If someone does ask "sausage or pepperoni?" during the debate, I'm going to start eating at Little Caesar's and Papa John's.
