The FBI is renewing it's plea for help in tracking down a dangerous fugitive wanted in connection with an unsolved murder. This stems from a murder nearly six years ago in Chicago, that once again highlights the dangers that gangs and guns pose to the streets of Chicago.
Orlando Diaz is wanted as a suspect in the New Year's Eve 2006 murder of a 26 year old man in Chicago who was shot and killed. Raul Ramirez was gunned down during an apparent gang related dispute. Another man was also injured in the shooting and Diaz was later identified as the gunman.
Initially it's believed Diaz hid out at his girlfriend's house, but then took a bus to Texas. Because he fled the area and could not be located, Chicago Police asked the FBI to assist in finding and arresting Diaz. He was then charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Diaz has relatives in the Houston, Texas area and he may be hiding out there. But he also has connections and family in the Chicago area and it's possible with the time that has gone by he may feel comfortable enough to return to the area. Diaz was a known member of the Latin Kings street gang and his last known address was in the 5500 block of South California.
Here is a description of Orlando Diaz:
Hispanic male.
25 years old.
About 5' 11''.
180 pounds.
He often goes by the nickname "Pony" or "Psycho" and he is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police.
