CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Wisconsin man who emailed a local news anchor to say she was too overweight to be on TV is now apologizing, sort of.

In the email, he said she's a bad, and irresponsible, example for young people and that anchor, Jennifer Livingston read the email on a newscast, firing back big time.

She called the man a bully, said he is the one setting the bad example, and explained that she's more than a number a scale.

The video spread like crazy on the internet, and Livingston has been hailed for taking a courageous stand.

The man who sent the email initially stood by it -- and for the most part -- he still does. But, he also issued somewhat of an apology when a reporter for ABC news caught up with him as he arrived for a midnight shift at work.

A newspaper has reported that the man is a security guard, not an attorney as previously thought.

ABC News posted the interview on its website.

"If Jennifer is offended then, you know, I truly apologize to Jennifer. That's the last thing I ever wanted to do," he says. "I'm not a bully. I'm in no position to bully her. She's a big-time media personality. I'm just a working stiff."

He says that he was obese as a child and has been fighting with his weight all his life.

In response, Livingston said: "I'm thrilled he's come to realize words have power and we all need to be careful how we use them. Apology accepted, and sincerely appreciated."
