CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A community alert has been issued in the West Englewood neighborhood following the attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl as she walked home from school last month.

On Thursday, Sept. 20 at about 4 p.m., the girl was walking west in the 2100 block of West Marquette Road on her way home from Luke O'Toole Elementary School at 6550 S. Seeley Ave. A man approached in a car, then got out and chased the girl for about a block before giving up the chase.

He was described as a 20-to-25-year-old black man, 5-foot-9 and 175 pound with black hair in dreadlocks and a medium complexion. He was wearing a white T-shirt and grey jogging pants, and driving a beige 2006 4-door Dodge Stratus with tinted windows.

Anyone with information or seeing a suspect or vehicle matching the descriptions should call Area South detectives at (312) 747-8271.
