The Talker: Today's children participate less in chores

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Do kids do as many chores around the house as adults used to?

The website Cozi.com surveyed parents and found 87% of them have the kids do chores. The average age that kids start on chores is four and a half and the most common chore for kids of all ages is cleaning up around the house.

A deeper finding found that 91% of parents said their kids don't do enough chores. The obvious question, then, is: why don't they have them do more?

The survey had some answers to that. 63% of parents said it's tough to teach kids how to do the chores, and enforce it all. 15% of parents said they don't want their kids to feel overworked and 12% said the kids do a crummy job.

Why do you think the housework load has gotten lighter on kids? Is it better or worse their time is spent on other things? Join the discussion on our Facebook page or leave your thoughts @FoxChicago on Twitter.
