3 charged with burglaries in northwest suburbs

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Three people have been charged with allegedly burglarizing homes, vehicles and residential construction throughout the northwest suburbs.

Officers conducting surveillance at the suspects' home last Wednesday noticed Ryan J. Bloom and Richard J. McCann park their car near the home, according to a release from Mount Prospect police.

When the officers approached, the men immediately dropped bags containing suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia, the release said. Officers searched the home and found hundreds of stolen items from reported burglaries in Mount Prospect and other northwest suburbs.

The stolen items included numerous hand tools, power tools, power washers, GPS devices, vacuum cleaners and sporting goods, the release said.

McCann, 34, was charged with three felony counts of burglary, two felony counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor warrants, the release said.

McCann, a parolee, has a detainer from the Illinois Department of Corrections, the release said. He also has an active arrest warrant from Illinois State Police.

Bloom, 22, was charged with three felony counts of burglary and one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, the release said.

A third suspect, Lizette M. Norman, 34, was charged with three felony counts of burglary and one felony warrant for an active warrant issued by the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

All three suspects lived in the 400 block of Perrie Drive in Elk Grove Village, the release said.

Bond was set Saturday at $8,000 for Bloom and $75,000 for Norman, the release said. On Sunday, bond was set at $150,000 for McCann.

All three suspects are scheduled to appear in court Tuesday in Rolling Meadows.
