Walsh supporter wins trip to LA to hear Duckworth speak

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Congressman Joe Walsh says he wanted to make a point in his race against Tammy Duckworth, and is having some fun doing just that.

Duckworth spoke to veterans at an event at Santa Monica College in Los Angeles Thursday, so Walsh held a contest to send one of his supports there too.

Campaign volunteer, Dave Rogers, won the plane ticket to California to "enjoy a one night's stay and dinner, then have the rare chance to hear Tammy Duckworth speak."

At the event, Rogers was supposed to ask Duckworth some questions, but didn't get a chance to. Wlsh told Fox Chicago's Political Editor Mike Flannery that he still proved his point.

"We had to fly an 8th district resident out to Los Angeles to put him up for a night and buy him a nice dinner just so they'd have the opportunity to see Tammy Duckworth speak," Walsh explained. "It's easier to hear her speak in California than it is here."

Duckworth's campaign said the California event was only about veterans.
