Danny K. Davis is a Democrat who has served as an elected official for over 30 years and was first elected by voters in 1996 for the 7th congressional district of Illinois.
Davis defeated Democrat Jacques Conway in the primary on March 20, 2012. He will run against Republican Rita Zak.
The 7th district includes the Near North Side and downtown Chicago as well as some of the west and south sides of city and some west suburban areas in Cook County. Abraham Lincoln represented the 7th district before being elected president, though, it has since been redrawn and is currently known as the 18th district.
