Contract talks between Quinn, AFSCME at a standstill

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Contract talks between Governor Quinn and Illinois' largest public employee union could be in trouble.

Officials from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees have sent out an e-mail saying the talks are at a standstill.

The workers have been without a contract since June 30, and now claim demands made by the governor could lead to a $10,000 per year pay cut for many workers.

The AFSCME e-mail doesn't call for a strike, but said the only way to get a contract may be "through direct action at the worksite and in the community."
