Medinah pro shop well-stocked for Ryder Cup

MEDINAH, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -

The action picks up at Medinah Country Club as this weekend's Ryder Cup nears. The best golfers in the world took to the course for practice rounds Tuesday and the pro shop is ready for customers.

Bob Jeffrey is the operations manager for the Medinah pro shop. This temporary, but nicely adorned 40,000 sq. ft. tent is the headquarters for Ryder Cup merchandise.

There's something here for every budget, from a $300,000 LeRoy Neiman painting, to $3 golf balls.

Jeffrey stocked this place from the ground up, and the finished product shines. From belts to scarves and official uniforms, to teddy bears, golf bags and ladies-wear, this shop has everything.

The operations manager anticipates hats will be the biggest sellers. He said they have around 50,000 units in stock.

Come Sunday, the final day of play, organizers are encouraging Americans to wear red. They want them to be a 13th man in the stands, and support the team as one of their own.

Jeffrey also said he expects more Americans at the Ryder Cup, so they will probably spend the most money. But he also said since the Europeans are in the States on vacation and they'll want to support their team, they will be spending as well.
