Wheaton City Council to discuss major hike in water rate

WHEATON, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -

If it seems like the cost of a lot of things is going up these days, here's one more.

The Wheaton City Council meets Monday night to discuss a major increase in water rates.

The council is considering a proposal that could increase rates 20 to 30 percent each year for the next three years.

That money would be used to upgrade the city's water system and cover an increase in water rates being charged by the city of Chicago.
