Quinn in Brazil on 6-day trade mission

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Governor Pat Quinn is in Brazil Monday on a trade mission to help strengthen exports and boost tourism in Illinois.

This is the governor's fourth overseas trip this year and the seventh since he took office.

Illinois exports to Brazil totaled more than $2.5 billion in 2011, making it the state's fifth-largest export market.

During his six day visit, the governor will meet with business leaders, and talk up Illinois as a tourist destination. He notes that of 1.5 million Brazilians who last year visited the U.S., less than 4% actually traveled to Illinois.

Quinn says he'll lead a delegation that includes representatives of business, education, and state and local government.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
