Is Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. leaving Washington, D.C. all together or just maybe moving across town?
The U.S. representative and his wife put their Washington home on the market for $2.5 million, as he continues to recover from depression.
In a statement from Jackson, spokesperson Rick Bryant, says that "like millions of Americans, Congressman Jackson and Mrs. Jackson are grappling with soaring
healthcare costs and are selling their residence to help defray costs of their
obligations. The Congressman would like to personally thank everyone who has
offered prayers on behalf of his family."
Jackson, 47, returned to his home in D.C. about two weeks after he was released from the Mayo Clinic, where he was treated for bipolar disorder. Jackson has yet to return to Capitol Hill.
His medical leave of absence has lasted three months thus far.
The listing, posted on Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, says the five-story home was built in 1921. he property was put on the market on Sept. 8
It features four bedrooms, three full baths, two half baths, five fireplaces, two kitchens, a sun room and a rooftop deck with a Jacuzzi. It also has a one car attached garage.
The listing notes the sellers "need to find a home of choice."
The Chicago Democrat and his wife, 7th Ward Ald. Sandi Jackson, also own a home in Chicago.
