Man grabbed 13-year-old girl's hair in attempted kidnapping

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man grabbed the hair of a 13-year-old girl and tried to abduct her Monday in the West Town neighborhood on the North Side.

The girl was walking in the 1200 block of North Rockwell Street at 8:50 a.m. when a man began speaking with her, according to an alert from Area North detectives.

The man then grabbed the girl by her hair, but released her after she began screaming, the alert said.

The girl ran away and the man ran west on West Crystal Street, the alert said.

The attempted kidnapper was described as black with dark complexion, 25-30, 6 feet and 160 pounds with brown eyes, black hair in a fade haircut, and mustache, the alert said.

He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, red shirt and blue jeans.
