CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man tried luring a teenage girl into his car Saturday morning in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.

About 7:35 a.m., the 15-year-old girl was walking west in the 3500 block of Augusta Boulevard when she noticed a black Chevy Malibu passed by her three times, according to an alert issued by police.

The teenager began heading south on Central Park Avenue when the Chevy pulled up to the curb, the alert said. When the girl crossed the street, a man inside the Chevy yelled at the girl and told her he would "snatch" her if she did not get into his car, the alert said.

The teenager ran away and told investigators she did not know which direction the man drove off in, the alert said.

Police described the man as black with light complexion, between the ages of 25 to 30, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 and 160 to 190 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair and a "chubby" build, the alert said, adding that the man had pockmarks and bumps on his clean-shaven face and "chubby cheeks."

He wore a black hoodie and a red baseball hat, the alert said.

Police said the black Chevy Malibu had a silver stripe and "fancy rims."

Anyone with information regarding the man can contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8261.
