Police investigate woman’s death in Washington Park

Police are questioning a person of interest after a woman was found dead inside a Washington Park neighborhood building Thursday morning on the South Side.

Katrina Rogers, 38, or the 5000 block of South Prairie Avenue was pronounced dead at University of Chicago Hospital at 9:09 a.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Police were called at 8:35 a.m. to the building on South Prairie Avenue where they found Rogers at the foot of the stairs, according to officials.

The husband did not require medical attention, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

Detectives called Rogers' death a homicide and are questioning a person of interest, police said. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
