CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Images of teachers walking the picket line for the third day is now a common sight, but sightings of Chicago Public Schools CEO Jean-Claude Brizard have been few and far between.
Brizard made one of his first appearances in front of the media since the strike started at a roundtable this afternoon with principals at Clemente High School.
"I've been around, because I'm not on the camera doesn't mean I'm not around," explains Brizard. "I've spent the last few days in schools with my principals and staff and kids at those schools."
He stepped out today as rumors of his resignation circulated among picketing teachers.
"I'm not sure where that originated, I've heard this come from CTU at one of their rallies. And again, my sort of assumption was that it was meant to distract a lot of people, so we made sure to put that to bed quite quickly."
As for why he hasn't been seen in talks with the teachers union, Brizard said, "David Vitale and I agreed early on that he would focus on the negotiation with the team and allow me to keep my district running."
