A young mother and her baby were injured late Tuesday night after a gunman fired into a group of people on the city's south side.
Chicago police say the shooting happened near 45th and Paulina in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
About 11:26 p.m., a 22-year-old mother holding her 15-month-old daughter were standing outside with a group of people when someone riding a bicycle opened fire on the group, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
The woman was struck in the arm, and the toddler suffered a graze wound to the leg, Gaines said, adding that both were listed in good condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
No one is in custody early Wednesday as Area Central detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
