16-year-old boy shot in Uptown

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE: A 16-year-old boy was shot in the Uptown neighborhood early Tuesday morning.

Police said the boy left an apartment building in the 4600 block of North Winthrop at about 1:20 a.m. when he heard a gunshot and fell to the ground.

The boy realized he had been hit in the leg, and a person in a nearby car drove him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he's listed in stable condition.

The boy told police he did not know anything about the shooter or where the shots came from, and no one is in custody.

Area North detectives are investigating.
