KANSASVILLE, Wisc. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A pilot who died Sunday after a plane crashed into the garage of a home near Kansasville, Wisc., has been identified as a North Side Lincoln Park neighborhood man.

John David Brock, 67, of the 1500 block of North Lake Shore Drive, died in the crash about 12:08 p.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of Kennedy Avenue, according to the Racine County (Wisc.) Coroner's office.

The plane crashed in a residential subdivision near Eagle Lake, about two miles from Kansasville, according to Lt. Steve Sikora of the Racine County Sheriff's office.

The fixed-wing Beech 36 plane departed Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling heading towards Minocqua, Wis., according to Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory.

"Our rescue crews heard and felt the explosion," Kansasville Fire and Rescue Department Chief Chad Franks said, adding the department began receiving calls of an aircraft crash.

The crash caused a fire that destroyed the plane, a garage and two cars, Franks said. Two homes and some outdoor sheds were also damaged before firefighters were able to put out the blaze.

"It is amazing that no one else was injured," Sikora said. "There were people outside, including a next door neighbor who saw the whole thing."

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board.
