CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Summer might be on its way out, but fall is revving up this weekend with vintage Ferraris, beer cruising, wacky stunts and vintage charms. Time Out Chicago's Marissa Conrad won't have you miss a beat with the following recommended activities while the weather is still warm and staying outside is a must.
Race on down to this fest for an Italian buffet, wine, music and—vroom, vroom—more than 60 vintage Ferraris. Ferrari's in the Loop, Italian Village, 71 W Monroe St (312-332-7005, italianvillage-chicago.com). 11 am-2 pm; $30, kids under 6 free.
Cruise down the lake and enjoy the passing of the seasons with the changing of the brews. Summer beers are replaced with fall flavors as Wisconsin-based brewery Leinenkugel distributes samples of Oktoberfest and Lemon Berry Shandy. Shoreline Sightseeing Brew Cruise: Leinenkugel Brewing Company Shoreline Dock, 600 E Grand Ave (312-222-9328, shorelinesightseeing.com). 8:15–9:45pm; $39.
Watch more than 35 teams including Carp E Diem and Duck Hunt compete in Red Bull's Flugtag. For this wacky challenge, we don't think there could be a more fitting sponsor than the sugar-laden energy drink Red Bull, which is believed to give you wings and causes crashing shortly after ingesting a can. Cop a seat alongside a sea of bodies at the beachfront to watch homemade, human-powered aircraft spectacles, propelling themselves from a 30-foot ramp mounted in the lake. The first hangar launches at 1pm. North Aveunue Beach, 1600 N Lake Shore Dr (redbullflugtagusa.com). 11am; free.
The tenth annual fair is an opportunity for serious crafters from around the country to sell their handmade arts and wares. And for serious shoppers to buy them. Workshops, local food vendors and live music invade Division Street. Renegade Craft Fair 2000 W Division St (renegadecraft.com/chicago). 11am–7pm. Free.
