Tips lead police to a man wanted for Highland Park murder

Posted: Updated:
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say tips from FOX 2 viewers helped lead them to a man wanted for murder.

Highland Park police arrested Manuel "Jay" Mason last month. He is charged with second degree murder after police say he fired an AK-47 rifle during an altercation outside a home on Doris St. back in April. The shots struck and killed Pierre Smith.

Police say Mason eventually turned himself in after he was featured on FOX 2 last month.

If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
