CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

It's the unofficial end of summer, with grilling, and time off of work. But as much as anything else, Labor Day means parades. One of most creative takes place every year on Chicago's North Side.

The Wellington-Oakdale Old Glory Marching Society - also known as WOOGMS - held its 49th annual Labor Day parade Monday morning.

The WOOGMS parade kicked off at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove and Wellington, and ended at St. Joseph Hospital, at Lake Shore Drive and Diversey.

Parade marshal Tony Weisman said the joy he sees every year on people's faces is "pretty magical."

"I've been doing this so long," 5th congressional district Rep. Mike Quigley said, "the little kids are big and have families of their own."

This local Labor Day tradition is sure to inspire future generations in the coming years.
