CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
At the Republican National Convention Wednesday evening, FOX Chicago News' Political Reporter Mike Flannery talks with several Illinois republicans, who shared their thoughts on the upcoming election and Obama's odds in Illinois.
"Obama's ahead in the city, but he's behind in the suburban Cook," said Rep. Aaron Schock of Peoria.
"That's not good news for President Obama, so I think to the degree that we make President Obama compete for Illinois, we're not only helping congressional races and state houses senate races, but we're also helping Mitt Romney nationally."
Other Illinois republicans were not so sure that the president is in trouble in his home state.
Former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar had this to say about the possibility of Romney carrying Illinois: "If he carries Illinois, he might even carry Massachusetts, his home state."
When asked in a follow up if his statement means it's not likely, Edgar responded, "I wouldn't bet the farm on it."
Illinois Delegation Chairman, Dan Rutherford, wouldn't answer what he thinks the odds are that Romney would take Illinois. Instead, he replied, "I'm not a gambling man."
