LSD resurfacing begins next week on North Side

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Starting next week the city will begin work on nearly three miles of resurfacing of Lake Shore Drive on the North Side.

The work, according to the city Department of Transportation, will take place during off-peak hours and is expected to be completed by November.

Sections of Lake Shore Drive between Sheridan Road and Foster Avenue, and between Belmont Avenue and North Avenue will be resurfaced. All four lanes in each direction will be resurfaced — a total of 2.75 miles of roadway, CDOT said.

The work is scheduled to begin the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 5 and the city says it will be completed by the first week of November.

Drivers should expect delays due to the work, which will take place at various times, both day and night. However, at least two lanes will be open at all times in both directions.

The city says there will be no lane obstructions during rush periods — neither southbound between 6-10 a.m., nor northbound between 3-7 p.m.
