CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A 20-year-old northwest suburban St. Charles girl is missing after her car broke down on her way to Illinois State University.
Tanner Conroyd left her home in St. Charles at noon on Sunday to drive to Illinois State University but abandoned her car in Hinckley before disappearing, according to a release from the Kane County Sheriff's office.
Conroyd filled up her car with gas at 1 p.m. in Sugar Grove, according to the release, and she was next seen at the Brown Pub at 200 Somonauk Road in Hinckley. Police believe her car broke down there, and she stayed at the pub for about three hours.
She left the pub Sunday with a heavy-set white man with a beard in a brown car, possibly a Ford Mustang, according to the release.
She then appears to have gone to Millennium Park, where she spoke with a security guard at about 10:30 p.m., according to the release. She gave the guard her cell phone number so he could call to make sure she got home safely, though she had left her cell phone at home. Her family spoke to the guard when he called.
She was seen in Millennium Park again on Monday, though her location since then is unknown.
Conroyd is described as a white woman, 20 years old, 5-feet-6 inches tall and 160 pounds, according to the release. She has brown hair and green eyes, and is believed to be carrying a red guitar.
Her car has been found in Hinckley Wednesday, and it appeared to have been there since Sunday, police said.
Anyone with information about Conroyd's whereabouts should call the Kane County Sheriff's office at (630) 208-5356.
