Chicago Labor Union members to get 6 percent raise over 4 years

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

City Hall made strides in reducing the city's labor budget Tuesday.

The Emanuel administration announced a new contract deal with two major unions Tuesday morning.

About 2,500 members of the Service Employees International Union and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers will get a combined 6 percent raise over the next four years.

That's well-below the inflation rate. But workers will get a small signing bonus, and will not face unpaid furlough days.
