Preckwinkle regrets 'inflammatory' remarks about Ronald Reagan

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said she regrets saying Ronald Reagan "deserves a special place in hell."

At a downstate political forum Tuesday, Preckwinkle criticized the Illinois-born president for his handling of the War on Drugs.

She said Reagan turned drugs into a political issue.

Preckwinkle didn't apologize, but later issued a statement saying she regretted the "inflammatory" remark.

The Cook County Board President could face more questions about the comments Wednesday when she attends a groundbreaking at the Oak Forest Health Center.
