Chicago homicide total for this month surpasses last August

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE: The number of Chicago homicides this August has already passed 2011's total for the same month, and there's still more than a week to go.
Thirty-eight people have been murdered in Chicago so far this month, three more than were killed in all of august 2011.
The overall homicide rate has risen 31 percent since last year.
Three hundred and forty-six people have been killed so far in 2012, compared to 265 at this time last year.
