Drought conditions across the area remain unchanged

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The latest drought numbers show little if any relief from the recent rains across the Chicago area.

One bright spot is a small area along the Lake Michigan shoreline in northwest Indiana where conditions are now considered abnormal which is down from moderate.

Extreme and exceptional drought conditions continue down state for both Illinois and Indiana. Year-to-date through August 15th the rainfall deficits across Chicago range from nearly 5" below average at O'Hare to more than 9" below at Midway, 9" below in Aurora and more than 6" below in Valparaiso. Little or no additional rain is expected through the weekend and 1st half of next week.

The next update will be available August 23rd.
