Closing arguments were heard in the bitter child custody fight between Grammy Award winning artist Usher Raymond and his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, on Thursday.

Usher is seeking sole custody of their children, 4-year-old Usher Raymond V and 3-year-old Naviyd. Foster, who just lost her 11-year-old son, Kyle Glover, to a boating accident, is trying to maintain joint custody. She is also asking that child support be increased from $8,000 to $11,000 a month.

During the closing arguments held in a Fulton County courtroom, Usher's attorneys said Foster is neglectful and incapable of being a proper parent.

"We believe the evidence is that Ms. Raymond is incapable of being a proper parent to these children. That she does not have the emotional stability or capacity to bond with them, and therefore she is handicapped," said an attorney representing Usher.

One of Foster's attorney, Lisa West, said in the courtroom that the international singer is on the road all the time, and can't rely on his so-called village of his mother, grandmother and aunt -- who were in court -- to keep the children.

She went on to say Usher does not have a good relationship with his mother, and said Foster is fighting for custody against the village people.

The two divorced in 2009, and both sides say the current co-parenting arrangement is not working. The judge is expected to rule on the case sometime next week.
