Strong storms are possible Thursday morning and afternoon.
We are under the risk of severe weather for the city of Chicago, west, southwest, south and southeast suburbs. Northwest Indiana will also be affected.
The window for highest instability and severe weather will generally be late morning through the afternoon when we see the greatest isolation (heating by the sun).
The main threat from these storms is large hail, damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, heavy rain and intense lightning.
Cooler air on the way Friday and a pleasant, partly sunny weekend is ahead with an isolated shower possible both Friday afternoon and Sunday evening.
THURSDAY: Scattered strong storms and rain showers. Highs near 78 and lows near 58.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny with an isolated instability shower near the lake. Highs near 70 inland and upper 60s by the Lake with lows near 53 close to the Lake and upper 40s far inland.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny with highs near 75 and lows near 55.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny with an isolated evening shower. Highs near 76 and lows near 54.
