Matt Toeaina #75 Defensive Tackle

DOB: 10/9/84

6'2" 308 lbs

5th Season / Oregon

Bio - Toeaina, whose entire career has been with the Bears thus far, has notched 60 tackles (35 solo), 2.0 sacks, 3 PBUs, 2 TFLs, and 1 fumble recovery since his signing in 2007. He started in all 12 games he played in 2011, recording 21 tackles (13 solo). His 33 career-high tackles came in 2010 alongside 2.0 sacks, 2 PBUs, and 1 fumble recovery. Before being signed to the Bears, Toeaina spent the first 14 weeks of the 2007 regular season on the Bengal's practice squad.

Lou CanellisLou's Call – Toeaina's in a huge battle to keep his starting spot at defensive tackle. In 2011, he started 12 games, missed four games and suffered a broken right hand during the off season. Rod Marinelli is a big Toeaina fan which was one of the reasons the team gave him a new 3 year contract in 2010. Now it's time to prove his worth. Last year, Matt had 21 tackles without a sack, that won't cut it this season.

Tom WaddleTom's Take – Matt may not be flashy, but he's solid. In fact, I believe he is their most reliable DT and should get plenty of reps.

Dionne MillerDionne's View – A tough physical veteran on the line. He's big and can assist in the pass rush. All reasons to like him at the nose position again this season.
