CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
With our last month or so of summer under way we want to make sure you make the best of it. Here are some great activities going on in the city, brought to you by Time Out Chicago's D.L. Hopkins. Get ready because there is something for everyone!
It's the end of the week, and whether you're a native or tourist, we're guessing you could go for a couple of cold ones. Do so aboard the Shoreline Sightseeing Brew Cruise. Blue Moon Brewing Company is doling out beer samplings and small bites. Shoreline Dock, Navy Pier, 600 E Grand Ave (shorelinesightseeing.com). 8:15pm; $39.
Finding traditional Italian food in Little Italy gets a little easier. Taylor Street Festa Italiana celebrates the historic neighborhood with a four-day jubilee centered around food from local restos including Rosebud, Davanti Enoteca and Tuscany. An all-skill-levels bocce-ball tourney, a meatball-eating contest and a grape-stomping demonstration (Aren't you thinking about that one I Love Lucyep?) round out the fair. Taylor St between Racine St and Ashland Ave (festaitaliana2012.com). 5–10pm; $5, kids under 12 free.
Line up curbside in Bronzeville for the 83rd annual Bud Billiken Parade and Picnic, a back-to-school festivity for families. Don't worry about revealing that deet to the kids. They'll be too busy cheering on nearly 160 decked-out floats and dancing to hip-hop performed by marching bands to realize they're being hoodwinked into hitting the books. From Oakwood Blvd to 55th St and Ellsworth Dr (773-536-3710, budbillikenparade.com). 10am–6pm; free.
Pop-up shop the Vintage Bazaar settles into a summer home. Swing by cohosts Katherine Raz and Libby Alexander's flea market on Second Sundays for decor, housewares and one-of-a-kind merch from more than 150 vendors. Bonus: Local historian Albert Walavich leads tours of the Aragon every half hour from 1–5pm. Aragon, 1106 W Lawrence Ave (thevintagebazaar.com). Noon–5pm; $5, kids under 12 free.
Relax, bridezillas and pouting fiancés. Get help with planning your special day at Lillstreet's Artisan Wedding Fair. Expert florists, jewelry artists, photographers, bridal salons and party planners walk you through free hands-on workshops at the craft bar.Lillstreet Art Center, 4401 N Ravenswood Ave (773-769-4226, lillstreet.com). Noon–4pm; $10, advance $5.
