The FBI reports the gunman responsible for killing six people at a Sikh gurdwara died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His ex-girlfriend is also being held on gun charges.
Wade Michael Page was originally believed to have been shot dead by police, in order to suspend the shooting spree he carried out at the Wisconsin house of worship. But new evidence shows he killed himself before police got to him.
Local investigators said although they have not yet determined Page's motive, they found ramblings the former Army soldier posted online - indicating that he may take action based on his beliefs.
Page reportedly wrote "stop hiding behind the computer and making excuses…. Stand and fight, don't run."
Page, 40, shot and killed six people at a Sikh gurdwara near Milwaukee last Sunday. He acted alone.
Meanwhile, South Milwaukee police arrested Page's ex-girlfriend Mist Cook on Wednesday. The 31-year-old was taken into custody after police found an unauthorized weapon in the home she once shared with Page.
The waitress and nursing student has reported ties to white supremacist organizations, just like her former boyfriend. He was reportedly an active member of the movement.
Cook had only moved out a few weeks prior to the shooting.
Six simple crosses have been erected on the lawn of the Oak Creek house of worship, in honor of the victims. Public visitation for those victims will take place Friday at Oak Creek High School.
