Police issue alert for West Town burglaries

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are warning residents of the West Town neighborhood on the Near North Side of a series of home burglaries that occurred last week.

The suspects entered the homes while residents were not home and stole a variety of items, according to Area Central detectives.

Burglaries were reported in:

  • the 1000 block of North Paulina Street at 11 a.m. on Aug. 1;
  • the 2000 block of West Division Street at 7 p.m. on Aug. 2; and
  • the 1100 block of North Winchester Avenue at 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 3.

There is no description of the offenders.

Police advise residents to keep the perimeter of their property well lit, report suspicious persons, vehicles or activity; keep doors and windows secured, repair broken windows, doors or locks; and activate alarm systems.
