New Chicago marijuana law issues tickets, not arrests

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago police officers issued 11 tickets in accordance with a new marijuana ordinance that went into effect on Saturday.

Instead of arrests, tickets are issued to those who are caught with 15-grams of pot or less and range from $250 to $500.

Mayor Emanuel sees the tickets as a chance to generate revenue and to keep officers on the streets to deal with more serious crimes.
