Runners furious after weekend 'Mud Wars' debacle

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Groupon and LivingSocial are scrambling to refund their customers after a weekend race went wrong.

"Mud Wars" was advertised as a 5k run featuring "exhilarating" obstacles and live entertainment.

But the Tribune reports that long lines, poorly constructed obstacles, and limited access to water has hundreds asking for a refund.

About 6,000 people showed up to the event -- more than triple the number organizers expected.

They each paid between $45 and $75 to register.
