Chicago tries out 'parklets' in Andersonville, called 'people spots'

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago is trying out a new kind of gathering spot: "parklets." The first one will be installed on the North Side.

The miniature parks were first installed in San Francisco. They'll be called "people spots" or "people-friendly spots" in Chicago.

They take the place of street parking, and include benches, grass, and shade.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Chicago's first parklet is going in at Clark and Farragut in Andersonville on the North Side.

Unlike San Francisco, "people spots" cannot be installed year-round. But it should be open through November.
