
A line of storms rumbled through Chicago overnight, producing a vivid lightning show and dropping small hail.
The storms formed ahead of a cold front which will pass through Tuesday and turn winds to the north.
High pressure will build in behind the front and pleasant conditions will prevail with sunshine and highs in the 80s through Wednesday.
Temperatures increase to near 90 Thursday through Sunday with a chance of showers or storms each day.
The outlook for August is hotter than normal and drier than normal.
The month ahead will also have a blue moon which occurs when you have two moons in the same month. The first full moon is on the Aug. 1 and the other is on Aug. 31.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny with highs near 88 and lows near 68.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny with highs near 86 and lows near 70.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny with isolated storms possible. Highs near 91 and lows near 72.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy with scattered storms. Highs near 90 and lows near 71.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny with scattered storms. Highs near 91 and lows near 70.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy and cooler with scattered showers. Highs near 83 and lows near 64.
