CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago paramedics rushed 12-year-old Ayana Patterson to the hospital on Friday night, after she was pulled out of Lake Michigan.

The girl was swimming and enjoying time with her family. She was swimming with two other relatives when the current sucked them all under.

"The current here is so strong and then while you're trying to hold up 3 people and save 3 people it's impossible. You can only do so much," said her uncle, Timothy Hollins.

Her uncle is praying she makes it.

"She was very happy to be here, you know what I'm saying. We was having fun, she's got a lot of goals that she wants to accomplish. Life is too short for somebody to be losing their life like that."

At last report, the young girl is in critical condition at Lurie Children's Hospital.
