ComEd continues to restore power lost during strong storms

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

ComEd crews are restoring power this morning following another round of storms overnight in the Chicago area.

More than 300,000 customers lost power when a storm moved through Tuesday.

Several hundred remain without power.

Another powerful storm swept through the area near O'Hare Thursday morning around 1:30 knocking out power to several thousand more customers in Des Plaines, Rosemont and Park Ridge.

Nearly 10,000 people in Des Plaines were without power at the height of Wednesday night's storm. Power is still out in the area between Oakton Street and Devon Avenue as of noon Thursday, and Mount Prospect Road to River Road.

Crews hope to restore all the power by the end of the day.

The lower temperatures expected Thursday are also expected to ease strain on the grid.
