MANTENO, Ill. (Associated Press) -

A manhunt was underway Wednesday night for a gunman who opened fire at a workplace in Mateno, Ill.

Operations at the 4T'S Warehouse are shutdown as the Kankakee County Sheriff's Department searches for the suspect. Investigators said they have identified a suspect - an employee -  and have obtained a number of warrants, so it's a matter of tracking the shooter down.

The shooting happened on Wednesday, just before 2:00 p.m., right around shift change. When police and paramedics arrived the victim, a man about 33-years-old, was outside on a loading dock after being shot multiple times.

Patrick Sweetie, a Blue Island Firefighter who lives in Manteno, got a text alert about the shooting on his phone.

"I took my family home immediately, put them inside the house, told my neighbors and people who had little kids out in the area what was going on and that until they heard otherwise they should probably go inside and close up the doors and windows," Sweetie said.

The Warehouse, owned by the Tyson Companies, is not affiliated with Tyson Chicken, but instead stores candy for M&M Mars.  Trucks continued to go in an out of the facility after the shooting.

Police say the motive for the shooting does not appear to be work-related; there might have been a dispute involving a woman.

Immediately after the attack, the gunman fled in a red or black Chrysler 300 and witnesses were able to identify him. Detectives said he is an Hispanic male who lives with his family outside Kankakee.

While police keep searching, residents anxiously await word of an arrest.

"Hopefully it's solved soon," said Kiki Louzensky, who lives near the warehouse. "We have a lot of older people here that live here in the community. Neighbors are a little upset.
