BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -
Happy report day! At first I thought it was like Christmas. Instead, it feels like the first day of college and summer camp mixed into one.
Slowly the Bears are reporting to Olivet Nazarene University - or their home until August 17. It's a long day of hurry up and wait. And wait. And wait.
Around 2:30 p.m., GM Phil Emery addressed the media. He's not going to call the 2012 Bears a Super Bowl caliber team, but said he's excited to see this group reach the goals they've set for themselves. Obviously, a deep playoff run is part of that. He did say that the team can get better and improve without making the playoffs, which was interesting.
Lovie is excited, too. Tried to answer questions about o-line, d-line and specialty positions before they were asked by simply saying, "we have good competition." And they do which makes camp more interesting. Especially at left tackle.
By the way, it's worth noting that Chris Williams was the first guy here. I take that as a sign he's serious about competing to start. J'Marcus Webb nation said he felt Williams keeping the pressure on during OTA's so now that training camp is here, it will be the biggest battle to watch.
Jay Cutler arrived around 5:15 p.m., and logged his media time quickly. Wearing flip-flops, a t-shirt and Nike work-out shorts, he said this is the most comfortable he's been since arriving in Chicago. Sounded and looked it. All good signs for the offense.
Matt Forte got in around 8 p.m., and said he's physically ahead of where he was a year ago. He didn't want to brag but said he can tell when he looks in the mirror. I believe him.
Brian Urlacher did not talk with the media, so we'll likely hear from him coming up Wednesday or Thursday.
Emery said after Wednesday's run test, they will decide if Johnny Knox will start the season on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list or try to be active. So stand by for that.
Lunch availability Wednesday so we'll chat with a few more players before the first practice on Thursday.

Thunderstorms rolled through Bourbonnais as the Bears prepared for their final practice of training camp.
Thunderstorms rolled through Bourbonnais as the Bears prepared for their final practice of training camp, forcing the morning walk-through indoors and our interviews into the coffee shop. And as the players began filing in for lunch, there were two hot topics.

It's the eve of the Bears season. Well, the pre-season. It's also the birthday of Jay Cutler's first child - a boy - Camden Jack. Let the storybook season begin, right?

With one week before the first pre-season game against Denver, questions began to be asked about the offensive line… well, they've been asked all along, just today they were louder.

After Monday's off day, we tackled a long one at training camp. Starting in the Kitchen here at Olivet Nazarene University.
After Monday's off day, we tackled a long one at training camp. Starting in the Kitchen here at Olivet Nazarene University. Shout out to Jeff Hilligoss- the GM of Sodexo who talked us through preparation for 90 plus NFL players. Not a total shocker, but he said the lineman eat really well…"not just what's on their plates, but how many plates they clean". Ha!

With all due respect to Theo Epstein - football is better with pads on. Just sayin'! So for the second straight day, the Bears practiced with full pads.
