MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (AP) -- Almost all the hundreds of participating boats have finished the Chicago-to-Mackinac Island yacht race.

Much of the fleet was becalmed Sunday, but the breeze picked up in the evening, and the first finishers came in overnight.

Race spokeswoman Rachelle Treiber says cruise class participant Infinite Diversion crossed the line Sunday just before midnight EDT. The 56-footer set sail Friday.

The first of the Saturday starters to finish was Il Mostre, which crossed the line about 1 a.m. Monday. She says two boats remained on the course at 7 p.m.

Actual winners in various divisions are based on a handicapping system that considers each boat's potential.

About 330 yachts set sail in the Lake Michigan tradition that began in 1898. The course is 333 statute-miles.
